We are once again participating in Doors Open Riverside, an event that provides an opportunity for the public to tour historic buildings in downtown Riverside. The event is modeled after Doors Open events that take place in cities across North America, Europe, Australia and elsewhere. The City of Riverside, the Riverside Arts Council, the Old Riverside Foundation, the Mission Inn Museum and Foundation, and the Riverside Downtown Partnership partnered in presenting the first ever Doors Open Riverside last year. Over 1,000 people visited downtown Riverside and toured the historic buildings with their ‘Doors Open’.
The second annual Doors Open Riverside will be held on Thursday, May 11th from 6 pm to 9 pm. Some changes will be made this year. The main Information Booth will be on Mission Inn Avenue in front of the Main Library Branch. There will be another Information Booth located at Main and Mission Inn next to the Mission Inn Museum. Both Information Booths will have Doors Open Riverside maps for event attendees.
Building tours will be 15 minutes in length and start at 6 pm and then every 20 minutes with the last one at 8:40 pm. Each tour will have a guide and at least two volunteers, and will be limited to 15 people. The guide will explain architectural and historic features of the building. Information on participating buildings will be on the City-hosted website; www.DoorsOpenRiverside.com
You are all welcome to this tour of our historic downtown Riverside."
